Collector

Abandoned objects collected around 2P Contemporary Art Gallery

"Collector" explores the relationship between an art space and the surrounding environmental ecology.

When an art space is placed within an everyday setting, it often feels abrupt or out of place—especially in Hong Kong, where the public generally lacks familiarity with contemporary art. People are not only hesitant to step inside, but also unsure how to define it.

Around the exhibition site, I collect discarded objects and rubbish, bringing in what the neighbours have thrown away. Yet this is not merely an aesthetic re-presentation—it is the gathering of your traces here. We rarely leave visible marks of ourselves in public, but could this become a metaphor for your lives, contained within this space?
